International Dermatopathology Conference

International Dermatopathology Conference, was organized by the Departments of Dermatology & Pathology, Father Muller Medical College, Mangalore, Special Interest Group (SIG) Dermatopathology IADVL, Dermatopathology Society of India in association with the International Society of Dermatopathology from 31^st August to 2^nd September 2012 at Decennial Memorial Hall, FMMC Mangalore with a theme “Dermatopathology made easy”. The inauguration of the conference was held on 1^st September 2012 at 10am Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, Director FMCI presided over the inaugural function, Dr N.S. Channappa Gowda, IAS, Deputy Commissioner DK was the chief guest. Dr C. R. Srinivas, President IADVL, Dr M Ramam, Secretary Dermatopathology Society of India were the guests of honour during the inaugural function.

On 31^st August there was slide viewing session at Pathology, Physiology practical hall. Around 115 slides were projected for viewing. E- poster viewing was held on all the three days of the conferences at e-library block. Total number of 112 posters were displayed for viewing in digital format.

Post graduate preliminary quiz was conducted at 12 noon – 1pm. Dr Biju Vasudevan conducted the quiz.

On 1^st September the Scientific sessions began with free paper session in Hall A & B at 8.30 am.

Followed by quest lectures on various topics such as “Lichenoid tissue reactions, FNAC in Dermatopathology, Leprosy, Neutrophilic dermatosis”.

Dr. Eduardo Calonje, Dr. Hilda Fernandes, Dr. Sonal Sharma, Dr. Muktha Pai, Dr. Nanda Kishore B, Dr. Nanda Kumar were the resource persons.

Slide discussions, free paper session were held in the afternoon. Total of 18 free papers were presented by the delegates.

On 2^nd September, Scientific programme commenced with award paper session. A twenty five scientific papers were presented in Hall A & B. There were guest lectures on Panniculitis, Inflammatory leg nodules, Alopecias during the scientific session. Dr Sara Edward, Dr Sujay Khandpur, Dr Rajiv Joshi, Dr Ramesh Bhat M, Dr Venkataram Mysore were the resource person.

The final quiz was held at 12 noon. The winning team was from Dr D.Y.Patil Medical College, Mumbai

The conference was well attended and appreciated by around 415 delegates all over India and few from abroad.

The conference was concluded at 5.30pm with the valedictory function in the presence of Dr C. R. Srinivas, President IADVL, Dr M Ramam, Secretary Dermatopathology Society of India and the faculty of Dept. of Dermatology and Pathology,FMMC
