WORLD BREAST FEEDING WEEK CELEBERATION

The Department of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Nursing along with OBG Nursing Father Muller Charitable Institutions is organizing a week long programme from August 1st to 7^th, in commemoration of the World Breast Feeding Week 2012.

As a part of this, health education, quiz and baby show was conducted at Akash Bhavan, Mullerkad on 6th August 2012. A total of 30 mothers were present from the locality. The program started by 10:45 am and was anchored by Mr.Shridhar, II yr M.Sc. Nsg student Department of Paediatric Nursing, FMCON. The program started with a prayer song followed by the welcome speech by Mrs.Wilma D’Souza, Lecturer, FMCON. Along with the chief guest Mr.Deepak K Pujari, Corporator, Mangalore City Corporation, Dr. Vanessa,Pediatrician, Father Muller Hospital,Mrs. Savitha, HOD,Dept of OBG Nursing,FMCON and Mrs.Sujatha, Anganawadi worker were seated on the dias. The chief guest highlighted the importance of breastfeeding and breast milk and its need for the growth and development of the child and encouraged the institution to organise more programmes of this kind . After the inaugural address, an educative video on Breastfeeding , prepared by the Department of Paediatric Medicine and Paediatric Nursing , “AMRITHA BINDHU” was displayed for the audience .Following this, prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz and baby show. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Usha, Anganawadi worker, Akash Bhavan.
